Been enjoying some Soul Jazz. Vi Redd - Lady Soul (1963) is a stand out while Rob Dixon - Naptown Soul (2026) keeps the groove movin.

Heard some swing on Jazz24 Radio, so I thought that I’d put some Glen on.

Although it says “Remastered”, some of the tracks are a bit iffy.

I had though, forgotten how safe swing music was.

It depends on what kind of swing - Glen Miller yes very safe, but Count Basie “Jumping at the Woodside” or Ellington at the Newport Jazz Festival are thrilling. And Bennie Goodman’s small band recordings with Teddy Wilson and Charlie Christian were ground breaking and truly excellent jazz.

And now I’ve gone down a swing rabbit hole….
