Now Playing Some Jazz [2026]

Joe Lovano´s great (and he´s still alive!)

Agreed, Lovano is one of the best tenor players. I was at one of these shows at the Vanguard when this release was recorded.

Featuring 19 year old Wynton Marsalis in 1983.

Tony Williams and Ron Carter are phenophenal on this record as is Herbie himself.

This is fantastic.

Following some recent suggestions, some live Joe Lovano from the Village Vangard. Haven’t listened to previously, but most enjoyable.

A Miles morning.

A little bit about my music tastes. My main preference for music is Jazz followed by Blues.

All my music is now by streaming having sold my Linn L12 and Naim CD5 XS a number of years ago, plus all my LPs and CDS.

For streaming I use Jazz24 Radio from Seattle for background listening and for what I describe as a listening session, then Qobuz.

For me, threads like this are great as I get the opportunity to explore what other posters are listening to, which is also where Jazz24 is handy, identifying new artists to listen to.

Doing this has expanded the diversity and artists that I listen to. However, not particularly keen on experimental Jazz, but more mainstream.

Using streaming on Qobuz, I don’t have any purchased music, but have a number of favourites that I can get to fairly easily. When listening, I always listen to the album in its entirety, as; A. Some albums are meant to flow, and B. Out of respect for the artist.

I do have some Playlists, a couple for when travelling, (Jazz and Blues) and one for testing equipment, based on some favourite tracks and some to test various extremes.

You may have noticed a pattern in my posts being early morning and there is a story behind this. We relocated to Wroclaw, Poland from the UK in October 2025. My main Hi-Fi system is in storage whilst we wait for our house to be finished. Presently we are in a nice city centre apartment and for music we are using Amazon Echos. I am retired, but still wake up around 0600 (just can’t get out of the habit of waking early), so I take the opportunity to listen to a few Jazz albums before Mrs DG wakes up, hence the posts.

That’s about all for now as I need to go and make the coffee.
