For CDs
EAC on Windows or Wine, XLD on MacOS, Whipper on Linux.
All will generate proper logs
Almost all of Whipper’s inconsistencies are solved by this point so it’s a relatively valid choice.
For me personally, extracting data is handled by EAC (basically a service + automation) and then the resulting data is handled by ingest services which deal with conversion to a standardized FLAC profile, analysis, and metadata / entity resolution.
Virtually all of my library is ripped from CD to FLAC files. They work great. My public library and many are linked, so that you can check out CDs for two weeks…I have used that to supplement my ripped Roon library
