PDF booklets, where to add?

I’m afraid I don’t understand… I have been using nomenclature with spaces for years (Disc 1, Disc 2, Disc 3) with no issues whatsoever. Of course, my tags include the proper disc number and total disc count for each album as well…

You are absolutely right! Aas long as your tags are correct, you don’t have to care about file or directory names.

@DDPS,

It has always worked for me that way. But if good practice is to eliminate the space, I’m glad I’ve now done that. It took well under a day total (I spread the task out).

The only downside was that recurrence of the ‘Background audio analysis’ hang. But I hope I’ve got rid of that by restarting the server. Am waiting to hear back from @benjamin on that one

Yes. Need to be meticulous with that.

Thanks, Axel

Yes, Yate does that easily.

That’s how I now do it - and always will now

Although I rarely force importable tracks to follow the - 01 filename 01 etc convention.

I force the filenames always into the structure 99 yyyyyyyy.flac. It is defined within mp3tag, so it is done with two clicks. The discnumber will also be checked and set if needed. Also the directory and all other tags are checked before the complete directory is transferred into the ROON-directory area on the primary-server.
ROON is doing a good job in organising the files as long as ROON has the information about the album! If it is a bootleg or something like that, ROON has noch chance to organize the files. Therefore I do the organization in advance by myself. It is not really a severe effort to do that. Just a questions of having the software configured correctly according the requirements. mp3tag is quite a powerful and easy to use piece of software.

Axel,

I imagine Yate can do the same?

Something in me tells me to change the FLAC files from reputable distributors as little as possible - even though Roon doesn’t base its identifying routines on filenames.

I suppose that very fact (that the Roon database relies on other matadata than filenames themselves) has made me avoid such a workflow.

I hope I’m not deluding myself? !

You are right! Filenames are not important for ROON. MP3Tags can be importanr depending on the parameter-seeting within ROON.
I don not care about the naming of the distributors. I am using as explained- my own naming-system which is close to the most used convention id identical. If a distributor uses a different one it will be adjusted. As I explained, I am having more than 231k music-tracks. A structure is for sure a good idea to keep that organized.

Thanks again, Axel!

Shall keep reviewing and adjusting my workflow - I suspect indefinitely
