Roon vs MPD: Differences in Sound Quality?

In my system, Roon kills MPD. Roon gives a wealth of bloom and detail. Not that ‘detailed’ hifi sound I get on MPD.

My files are on NAS drive, connected to BDP-1 via Audioquest Vodka ethernet cable; co-ax to PS Audio DirectStream DAC.

Generic ethernet cable gives a muddy sound.

Welcome Peter. I like Roon RAAT better than MPD as well, but it’s darn close. I find the difference more noticeable with my Sonore microRendu with HQPlayer, changing up fliters and dither.
