I have a 3-way open baffle speaker system with 2 subwoofers. I use all class D amplifiers and ExaSound S88 8 Chan DAC.
AudioLense is configured to provide 8 channels of crossover. Gain matching and driver /room dynamics FIRs as you know.
I also use software called Hang Loose Convolver which allows me to switch between filters without Delay or gain differences to help select best sounding FIRs … Mitch Barrett software
The last mile has been the Turntable !!
I have another 2 way system with subs to set up looks similarl to your system. Can you suggest a ADC/DAC 6 Chan?
Great gear
The best box is no box
If you like you can take a look at my setup:
Full range drivers in Horns open at the back. Driven by Krell evolution 2250e (will be replaced by Hypex NCx500 soon) plus two Woofers. The vintage B&O device is there for nostalgic reasons only
And here you see my main electronic the RME ADI-2/4 (with phono pre included!!), the rooExtend-Box (left) and an Apple Superdrive drive for direct playback without ripping (right). The round thing is my Nuimo wireless remote at its charging station.
My gear smaller and less expensive but same concept. Thanks’ for sharing your setup

I have a question about rooPlay.
Settings. I want to use Audio interface . When I select this interface my audio interface PS Audio PS Audio NuWave 24 bit with 192000 selected … save.
Later when I return because the link drops off and I get a message that the radio station is lost . I go back to rooplay settings and source to be played is now None??
Can someone play explain I’m new to this software
You should not use the settings dialog of rooPlay for starting turntable playback in daily life. It is made for test purposes only.
Please download the rooExtend-Box Manual from here.
Starting at page 19 “Create additional radio stations (optional) for playback from the audio interface” you learn how to set up a second radio station for the turntable.
Having done that you just start this radio station and rooPlay will stream the input from your ADC.
There is no need to tinker around with the settings dialog any more if you like to start playback from turntable via the ADC.

Thank you CWO
I’ve been using the radio station before requesting some assistance as stated above. It seems like the music feed stops while radio station is still playing. I have found that opening setting and reselecting audio interface is required to get music flowing again
This sounds strange to me
Just to make sure you understood what I wrote:
There are two different Types of Radio Stations you can setup.
- There is the default Radio Station called “rooExtend” with URL: http://[IP number]/audio
- And there is a special radio station for the turntable ADC with any name and the URL:
URL http://[IP number]/audio/?playbackSource=interface&interfaceSampleRate=48000 as described in chapter “Create additional radio stations (optional) for playback from the audio interface” of the rooExtend-Box manual. Please recognize the highlighted parameters in the second URL.
Configuring a Radio Station like the second URL and starting this just as you start any other Radio Station the turntable Signal gets streamed via your ADC and rooPlay to Roon. In this case the settings inside the settings dialog of rooPlay are irrelevant.
Did you start the steam from your ADC this the 2. option?
If you start playback from the settings dialog you must set all parameters first. After pressing “Save” internally such a URL is created and played back.
This just to clarify how things work.
If you use the Radio Station form 2. and get a message that this Radio station is not available any more make sure that your Raspberry Pi still has the same IP number AND that the ADC did not went to sleep.
An other reason for stopping playback may be that the sample rates for the ADC and DAC differ a bit (ADC a bit slower). This emptys up the buffers in Roon after some time and if the Buffers got empty Roon stops playback. In this case it should be possible to start Radiostation 2. again by just pressing play. This can happen but normally the XTALs are so close that it happens after a lot of hours as I wrote before. Are you sure that the sample rate of the ADC is exactly the same as the DAC? You can control in the Roon Signal path an on the display of the ADC. Please for a test also try to run 44100 or 48kHz and see if things get better.
If you encounter such a situation again please open your browser with the IP of your raspberry Pi and click the button “Show Sound Interface”. This information please mail to info@definiteaudio.de

Hi there! I’ve seen some mention in this thread of people using the Scarlett 2i2 - but does anyone know whether the cheaper Scarlett Solo would work with rooPlay?
If the Scarlett Solo is compatible to the USB Audio Class 2 standard it should work.

Hi
This device works but please be advised the right and left channels have different connectors (XLR left and 3/4 inch jack right) - making stereo input connectivity clunky.
I purchased one of these and swapped for the 2i2 for this reason.
Ahh good point. That is a bit clunky. Seems I should hold out and see if I cant get a good deal on a 2i2. Did you end up going for a gen 2 or gen 3? Know if there’s any discernable difference?
I got the gen 3 - didn’t look at the gen 2 but If it also supports sample rate up to 24-bit 192khz, then there’s effectively no difference (for using with rooPlay).
I went ahead and picked up a secondhand 2i2 gen 3, just to be sure. Should be here later this week.
Am I correct in understanding I’ll need some kind of RCA to 1/4" jack converters in order to connect my phono stage to the Scarlett?

I use something like these.
I have these on the end of Phono…

Focusrite Scarlett arrived and setup for RooPlay was very easy. Nice to be able to have the same DSP on my turntable as my digital sources.
The only thing I’ve noticed is that the volume coming from the turntable (via the RPi) is significantly lower than it was previously. I have to turn the volume knob on my amplifier far further to level match which can make things a little dicey when switching between analogue/digital sources.
Any idea why that might be, and/or how to sort it?
Interested in RooPlay to use the Pi4 already running Nuimo.
However I am not sure which route will provide the best sound from vinyl. Using Dutch Dutch 8C fed from Arcam AV860 pre/pro and MC phono stage or using Rooplay with an ADC (E1DA Cosmos perhaps?) from the phonostage into Roon?
The Cosmos ADC is a perfect ADC
But it has line level input and low impedance. I read somewhere that there is an experimental firmware available that it also decodes RIAA. In any case you have to have a good Phono pre with MC input and line output in front of the Cosmos ADC.
I use a RME ADI-2/4 which can also be used as phono input with digital RIAA. From there the signal travels via USB to rooPlay and Roon. There I have my Room Correction filters and stream back to the DAC part of the ADI-2/4. From there four analog channels two to my horns and two to my active woofers
This is a high quality solution with as few parts as possible. See Photo here.
Some posts below you also can see my horn speakers.

Thank you, your system looks very interesting!
Does the Cosmos ADC need to be configured for use between the line level output of my MC phono stage (LFD MCT) and USB out to RooPlay?
The correction (REW) is done in my Dutch Dutch speakers rather than in Roon and so can be applied to the signal from the ARcam processor as well.
