When Roon 1.2 is released it is likely to include a Raspberry Pi2 image for RoonBridge. Then you could compare an Ethernet RAAT connection to the Pi with the Mini placed some distance away, with a direct connection to the Mini.
I’m not sure how HDMI audio works. There was an interesting discussion about different audio protocols here.
