Yes, the OR gets quite hot. But, I have it up and running since 12 months and never had any issue.
Also other devices here get quite hot, like my Dac, the MolaMola Tambaqui.
I watched out when setting all the “hot” devices up, that there is free air circulation.
Can’t comment on the oR but…
I owned both the mR and the uR and had to replace the SD cards in both of them, the mR twice.
I always wondered if the excessive heat were part of the reason for that as the mR ran paint blistering hot with the uR a little cooler but still way too hot IMHO.
My guess is your mRs run hot because they have a high input voltage like 9VDC? The SD card failures are more likely than not related to the operating system being corrupted. The cards might even be okay, but as a matter of protocal we swap them out just in case.
The first time a SD card failed in the mR I did replace the PS from the 9vdc to a lps at 7vdc as I thought going for a mid range would be better.
This really made zero difference to the heat.
And the new SD card that was supplied also failed about 6 months later.
It is what it is, no worries.
Just my personal experience.
The computer side of things uses 3.3 volts. The USB output is 5 volts. The higher the input voltage the greater the heat dissipated by the power circuits. Some DACs use USB power and some don’t so if yours does the unit will naturally run hotter. Also, the higher the playback sample rate the greater the heat dissipated by the CPU. Some of the ICs run better when hot and the CPUs are industrial grade so no worries.
Dear Jesus
Which modem and which Router please ?
It’s hard for me to say…most all equipment should works.
