Squeezebox Boom Replacement

I replaced my Boom with a Grace Digital Encore+ - built in chromecast support, so now works with Roon also - you can buy new here : https://gracedigital.com/shop/encoreplus

You can find on amzn for $200

Looks interesting I am after something for the bedroom currently using a cca plugged into a Pure Jongo speaker which is good but not so practical with wires hanging everywhere. But I did manage to power it from the usb port of the speaker so its future portable. The Walnut finish one looks nice.

Looks like it’s built in a shed.

It’s totally a tank ! As a replacement for my boom though it does the job in the kitchen - reception is absolutely fine, the UI is archaic but really there is not much to do through it and there’s an app anyway if need be. They also make a Squeezebox Radio-like smaller unit called the Mondo+ that also integrates Chromecast, again a boon given the recent Roon support for CCA. You can get that one refurbished direct from Grace Digital for $100 (!) - https://gracedigital.com/shop/rfb-mondoplus

In another thread I’ll open a request for Roon folks to support non-google CCA compliant devices with display to make sure that the meta-data is communicated.

It’s good to know. A lot of times product shots don’t do the physical item justice.

Today, I replaced my faulty Boom with a Urbanears Lotsen CC speaker with knobs for volume and presets. It’s more comparable to the Squeezebox Radio on sound.

Does it have a remote? That would be a necessity to finally replace my Boom.

No remote. I control it via the knobs or Roon.

The Bluesound Gen 2 devices allow for pairing a (any) remote. I use a Pulse 2 in the bedroom with an old Apple TV remote for volume and transport controls. Works fine.

What kind of remote does this work with? Bluetooth? WiFi? Ir?

Thanks!

IR. It’s basically a key remapping: choose action, press key on remote, save.

These are the options (presets go to five):
