Question regarding router updates setting….
The router has a setting for automatic firmware updates; it defaulted to Off. Should this be turned On? I changed it to on, but figured I’d ask those who know more about this.
Thanks.

If it works then don’t update. I had a router brick itself on an update.
Like Roon, turn automatic updates OFF.
This advice is not very safe. Often also routers have security updates you better install to solve vulnerabilities. I like to do this manually so I can plan the time of the update.
So, I should set auto update to Off but check regularly for security updates?
When I turned it on it looked like you can set the time of day to update. I believe the defaut is 2am, so I left it at that.
I really doubt that there are many router security updates. I haven’t updated router software since the brick. If someone really wants to get into your system no router ‘security’ is going to stop that. ‘Security’ updates to a router are just a warm, fluffy blanket.
Worry more about the OS on whatever machine accesses the internet.
No matter what, it isn’t worth agonizing over.
I appreciate all the suggestions!
