Tidal drops plus tier, includes it in the hifi tier for the same price

Has anybody transferred over to the Hi Res flac tier today? I just checked my Tidal and I’m still on the basic Hifi.
It does say the following.
Starting April 10, 2024, HiFi and HiFi Plus will be combined into one tier called TIDAL and available for the same price as HiFi.

I logged out and back in to Tidal on the website and on Roon but still on basic tier.

The same situation here.

Edit: Just run an update for my Tidal app, now it was possible to cghange the settings in the app to High Res, and it works. Have not tried through Roon yet.

I just signed up with Tidal and am moving from Qobuz. My tastes better align with what is delivered by Tidal. Also, I find the applications and device support superior to Qobuz. But each will have their own preferences.

Streaming in 24 Bit 192 Hz works with the Tidal app. Roon keeps streaming music from Tidal in 16 Bit. Reconnected my Tidal account within Roon, but still not working. Can anybody else confirm this?

I did test it and do have the same behaviour.

Tidal app plays Hi-Res, Roon does not.

In Roon the album shows 96/24 but on the DAC plays it as 44.1/16. I tested it with an album which I never played before.

Switzerland here.

I can also confirm this. Always seems to stream in 44.1 despite me having set hi-res in the account preferences.

Edit: I think I was getting mixed up with Qobuz streaming quality, as Tidal just offers High/Low.

I’ve only recently resubscribed to Tidal, following the price change.

UK if it matters.

Roon will probably have to update their own software to make use of it. Same was needed when they introduced Tidal Max.

Yes looks like option to choose “Max” in Roon needs updating in the services setting menu!

Nope, Tidal’s streaming tiers change over today, the updated billing takes effect on your first bill due after April 10th. Your condescension is both ironic and uncalled for.

Well I’ve just checked mine again on the Tidal app and it is now available in Hi Res where it wasn’t this morning. My next billing date is not for another fortnight.

Coming from Tidal HiFi Plus. I can confirm that Roon happily plays 24/192 here with setting to Max.

The issue now is that those already subscribed to the old Tidal HiFi tier or newly subscribed to the new single all encompassing Tidal tier don’t have the option to update our Roon Tidal streaming quality to “Max.” The Option doesn’t appear for us.

Looks like Roon has some fixing to do.

2 months notice wasn’t enough I guess… and they probably knew way before the public did actually :frowning:

I’m betting it is resolved within 24-hours. We shouldn’t worry too much and enjoy what we’ve got. :+1:

:astonished: Whoa, that’s a steal!

@jamie Can someone from Roon please comment on when this lack of hi-res for customers who were previously on the HiFi tier is going to be addressed? I’d just like to get some kinda time frame. My guess is a software update needs to happen, just like when previous Tidal issues occurred.

Yeah. My renewal was on the 8th so I let it lapse and then resubbed today and don’t have access to Max.

Yes it is, it’s too cheap by far.
I’ll be subscribing to both Qobuz and Tidal still, with Tidal being used to fill the few holes in the Qobuz library for the music I like.

The last thing I want is for Qobuz to fail and for Tidal to be the only streaming option in Roon.
Plus I like listening to the Qobuz app more than the Tidal app, outside of Roon with my IEMs, to me it sounds smoother and less harsh.

All the folks bailing on Qobuz to save $1.50 a week, who aren’t broke and don’t need to save a $1.50 a week ought to rethink.
IMO of course.

Hi @Todd, @mackid1993,

We’ve identified the problem and anticipate a fix included in the upcoming release. This fix isn’t included in the current Early Access build but will merge into the production build when that same Early Access build is released to the public.
