Yesterday the HU (hailing from Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia) visited Vienna as part of their “HISHIGTEN Europe Tour 2024”.
During the day we weren’t sure if the gig eventually might be cancelled due to heavy rain and floodings causing power outages and public transport to brake down all over the city. In the end the promoter decided to give it a go.
The HU entered the stage at 9:20pm and was playing for a bit more than 1,5 hours. It was a great night (especially the second half of the gig) with a surprisingly good sound mix.

Solstice playing at the Milton Keynes Stables a week and a half ago. Steve Rothery and Steven Wilson also in the audience, so in good company.

Elvis Costello, Bristol Beacon 17th September 2024. Great show with just Steve Nieve for company. Songs occasionally augmented by a guy on a MacBook adding drums & bass (which didn’t work for me, but he seemed to be enjoying it!). My view from row 2, first time back there since the rename and massive refurb. Place is looking great, and the seats waaaaay more comfortable than the old ones! Been catching Elvis whenever possible for over 40 years, always puts on a fantastic performance.

We had the privilege of hosting Michele Stodart (The Magic Numbers fame) and her full band on Michele’s birthday and so soon after recovering from spinal surgery. She started by performing her latest award winning solo album Invitation followed by some great material new and old… Carson McHone was support too…

Mid September in Wien Staatsoper performing Mozart Così fan tutte. Great singer and orchestra direction but very disappointing stage and costumes
Beginning of October Mozart in Lisbon open air performance of Don Giovanni in the Goulbenkian gardens amphitheater,good singers orschestra direction not bad but not my cup of tea (they replaced the Celeste with an electric guitar ….) the instrument positioning was also unusual however the fina result was enjoyable.
Malmesbury Folk & Roots in Malmesbury Abbey gardens Saturday afternoon. Weather not so good, but music and location made up for it. Line up:

I would love to go see Joe Bonamassa in Atlanta in March, but I dare not with my tinnitus. Oh well…
Going to see him in the UK in April.

Did you manage to catch the support - Ian Prowse? We have tickets for his annual Christmas show in Liverpool. Tremendous night out!
Yup, caught the last 15 mins or so. Energetic and entertaining. Clearly loved being a Liverpudlian! Enjoy the Christmas show.
