Who decides what genre an album is?
The latest album from Joachim Cooder is described as 'alternative/indie, ‘pop/rock’, ‘roots rock’ and ‘singer/songwriter’.
The last is the only accurate one imo. It isn’t rock, roots or otherwise. Maybe Indie. To me it’s Americana, American Folk or maybe even hillbilly, tho this last one is pushing it I think.
That’s an interesting album featuring baroque music for two ‘Scordatura’ violins. Some pieces sound really surprising. Superb sound quality. Recommended listen for lovers of baroque music.
The two first released volumes of this series are very promising; wonderful playing and interesting musical selections. Hopefully we won’t have to wait eternities for the next volumes…
Remember my mate at the time buying that on 7" vinyl.
When I saw Scordatura I thought of Biber. I see they have a Biber release too. I’ve added that one as well.
Thanks for the tip.
I haven’t heard this in a long time. I forgot how much I liked it!
Not listened to their new release but this is a great heavy rock band from Manchester, England.
