What We Are Listening To [2021-11]

Thank you so much for your kind words. It’s certainly a way of learning near every day something new, and living how I do in a place where there is very little appreciation for the music I most enjoy, Roon together with a streaming service and this forum make my life a lot better. Cheers!

Saint Etienne, anyone?

Love the band, but also love the musical knowledge of band members Bob Stanley & Pete Wiggs. These are great compilation albums…followed by a classic SE album.

Andreas_Philipp1 and nigel_hough Corndweller these grateful words I can share automatically translated with you all over the world. What an advancement for humanity! Technology can formulate, enjoy and appreciate but not take away from us. Therefore, the thanks come back from me personally and only have to be put into the understandable language by machine. This succeeds with the time better and better.

So it is also with the music and here I love the word contributions in addition to the musical proposal. We are here a very colorful bouquet well decorated with all musical colors and the love of music brings us so much more in the community than just our own collection, Roon, Foobar2000 or any music service.

Nothing we want to miss. No musical color shall we miss. The abundance of the many bouquets is on the one hand an overload, on the other hand an experience that makes our life much more colorful.

What would this community be without you and the many other specialists in your field? What can I still learn with you, try out something new? Where can I still give my old heart away, free of obligation, just for the joy of a musical life?

If a musical preference or a rediscovery makes just one more person happy, that’s great. If you are looking for the audience of millions, you are certainly in the wrong forum here.

Here, every suggestion is valued, but we can’t try everything and everyone quickly realizes where they are better advised with their own musical taste and where they still have room for development.

Sometimes without much knowledge in a genre you are just lucky to be in the right place. For classical and jazz, this forum is very good.

I don’t think Carmen Lundy needs further introduction here as a world-renowned musical talent, but anyone interested in Night and Day should not skip this live version. It was certainly worth a trip to Copenhagen and jazz lovers will find many more gems on this already older CD.

The recordings were made between January 10 and December 16, 1996 and are an exciting excursion into the wide jazz world with interesting collaborations and musical styles. Enjoy between bebop, jazz drums, jazz brass, funk, avant-garde jazz, jazz saxophone everything that is contemporary jazz also vocal with Carmen Lundy.

Voivod - Nothingface

Impossible to stream in a lossless form which is especially sad considering it’s reputation as the GOAT progressive metal album. The weird jazzy guitars are absolutely amazing.

It is unfortunately not available on Tidal or on Qobuz.

You have to buy it physically and rip it, then Roon will find it in his database !

The same goes for this one, I’m afraid.
