R.I.P. Angelo. This by the way is also a brilliant song. Love Jimmy Scott.

I spent time with this album last night and again today. I know Tim Reynolds through his 90’s collaborations with Dave Matthews - I saw the two of them live a couple of times. I don’t know Michael Sokolowski.

This is a very different Tim Reynolds. I found this album mesmerizing. Very easy to get lost in, especially with headphones.

Thank you for the recommendation.

Buxton
Half A Native (2015)

Largely a fairly sweet Americana styled album. I’ve read of comparisons to My Morning Jacket & Ryan Adams, not certain I hear that much of them here, I’m more inclined to think Wilco, albeit they don’t sound like Wilco.

The opening chords remind me of The Band and that always bodes well. As the album progresses, though, Buxton unveils its own dusty, ethereal, sparkling, quietly understated sound that alternates between hypnotic textures and punchy hooks…This is one of those albums that absolutely demands a full listen of all tracks to appreciate Buxton’s gifts for shifting sounds and moods…Buxton sneaks up on you and you’ll be going back repeatedly to explore their varied approach. Good as Gone/Fingertips (Live 2018)
A tad ‘rough’ given the live recording.

Alexandra Savior
Belladonna of Sadness (2017)

With some of the album co-written with Arctic Monkeys’ Alex Turner, Savior’s sound and imagination have been effectively realized and captured here in a magnetic collection of songs with an almost Lynch-ian/Coppola-esque cinematic feel to them. An impressive debut from a very promising songwriter, hopefully with more to come. (allmusic)

No idea how/why I stumbled across this some 5 years ago now; I assume it was due to Alex Turner who brought this artist to light. “Known for her heavily atmospheric and dreamy mix of psych-pop, desert rock, and neo-torch music” (allmusic), alas I don’t hear enough of the aforementioned styles. However, the album does have its moments and overall is easily listenable, just that it isn’t all that memorable to me. It’s only now that I see she has a more recent release (2020) that perhaps is worth a listen.
