This caught my eye in Tidal’s new releases yesterday morning and now getting a chance to listen - just gorgeous, and a rarity indeed.
I donated one on behalve of @Michael_Harris too
If memory serves, I think this was a recommendation from @AceRimmer ages ago - only just got around to listening to it. Brilliant! Perfect for a gorgeous sunny Saturday morning.
Now on to this, very chilled. Oh, and Happy Canada Day to all our listeners based in Canada .
Their first album, Icon, is also worth a listen
Was also languishing unlistened in my library, so will be rectifying that for sure!
MQA CD version ripped and playing in Roon at 24/352. Doesn’t suffer the muddiness of the early CD version.
I also very much enjoyed the Jean Baur: Chamber Music. Tried to find other recordings by him in tidal but none. The wikipedia page is very very short.
Other albums by Elinor Frey are very nice, I had in my library her DALL’ABACOs but all her recordings are full of not so famous composers.
Edit:
Happy Canada Day & Elinor Frey is also Canadian
Yes, nothing really out there of Baur. I also had the Dall’Abacco Sonatas, and added a few more of her recordings after listening to the Baur. Very nice music/playing indeed.
I’m not the world’s biggest AC/DC fan, but these 2020 Hi-Res masters sound fantastic cranked.
@ipeverywhere recommended this earlier today (yesterday GMT) on Rugby’s weekly meet and when I found it in my collection I presumed it was a Qobuz addition but I find it’s an album I own that I’d kinda forgotten about (even though Roon tells me I listened to it 5 times in 2017!).
Greta Album.
