I never found music on streaming services from the early years of recording by Annette Peacock. When I was way younger I taped an LP and I never forgot two songs. Last week now I saw an album, second hand and I bought it. That’s what I am listening at: ‘My mama never taught me how to cook’. The Aura Years 1978-1982 were the years in which the album I remember is available, on one single cd. I ripped the cd and transferred it to my server. It is great to relive her sensual voice and jazzy songs. (I am more fan of pop, rock, symponic rock, indie and amercana, but this is known to be jazz.)

Not going to lie, ChatGPT has been wonderful for discovery recently.

For instance:

What are some more audiophile classic rock recordings? From Rolling Stones to Black Sabbath to allman bros to etc. Primarily interested in albums that are good digital masters or remasters (available on Qobuz or Tidal), they don’t have to be hi-res but do need to be really great recordings. Live or studio is fine. Off the beaten track ideally - beyond Aja or Physical Graffiti or Dark Side of the Moon. Impress me, surprise me.

Or…

I want some music to read by, that will be beautiful and show off my speakers’ capabilities but which are unobtrusive enough that I can read for an hour or two. Jazz, classical, choral, I’m open-minded & happy to experiment. Give me something wonderful, rich, textured which happily lives in the background.

The Mercury team was amazing. This is a spectacular recording – and it has some stunning bass response. I must admit ignorance of the lower register of a harpsichord in the hands of a master.

@Bauer Oh man, spent a lot of time going to built to spill & treepeople & beat happening shows in the ‘90s (& nirvana & mudhoney & crackerbash & fugazi & pixies & tortoise & sonic youth & etc etc). Doug Martsch is a master. So good every time I see them on people’s playlists…
