I would go with Still Alive?

Symphonium running well on my Pixel 8 without problem.

A couple of Plex-related issues:

  1. Plex does appear to automatically add new releases–am I missing something?
  2. Plex doesn’t recognize IMPORTDATE, so ordering isn’t great

I was hoping for a separate tab/index for Plex and Local. It may be there and I haven’t found it yet. Just started playing with it last night and haven’t poked around all that much.

The interface is wicked cool…

Well, I’m impressed with Symphonium streaming from my Plex container over 5G. Not a hitch with Android Audio. Definitely worth a fiver!

Such a shame Plex removed TIDAL integration as I’d like to have had streaming options, too. But, at least, I can reliably access my library now, and download for offline use.

Still finding my way around Plex and Symphonium, and I haven’t worked out what bit rates are streamed, or whether I can stream bit-perfect over a reliable, unmetered connection. But in the car, perfect so far. I’m traveling south at the weekend, with some patchy 3G, so this will be a real test in terms of buffering and recovering from a lost connection.

Now I’m home, I’m playing this new arrival.

I guess you were pretty impressed with that find then

I may end up killing the local and just use it in place of the Plex interface. I have USBAPP for the local stuff anyway.

But yeah, it looks pretty sweet for <$10.

Yes, thanks for the recommendation. I like the Celtic vibe. Hard to pin a genre … sort of acoustic Prog. Funny thing, I think I’ve seen her perform live at Steve Hackett a decade or so ago.

Yeah I think I described it as kind of acoustic folk prog.

You can scan them automatically in Plex Server (I do it at 4AM) and then when I open Symfonium I do a scan to bring in new music

It’s a bargain and Plex is super reliable over 4G and 5G
You can control the streaming settings and pretty much everything in SYMFONIUM as there are more options that you can shake 10 sticks at. It does make getting used to it a bit intimidating though. I have been using it about 10 month’s now as pretty much my only local playback client and I still find new things

Sounds like my third wife…

They are certainly better at choosing a name than the USBAPP folks.

Is it sacrilegious to prefer Kevin Ayers to Soft Machine? Nah, I thought not. I’ve been revisiting the ramshackle beauty of Kevin’s solo output this week. I want this album on vinyl, but prices are a ā€œlittleā€ bit too high!

His final album ā€˜The Unfairground’ is typical Kevin Ayers, although I think his hedonistic lifestyle was finally catching up with him by that time. One of his last interviews is kind of sad, but he lived life by his own rules. Maybe a bit simplistic to lump him in with Syd Barrett, but people do.

Enjoying this album, fronted by Anne-Marie Helder of Luna Rossa, and performed by Panic Room, a Welsh progressive rock band.
