I love this album. It stands the test of time, and is so much better than the retrospective reviews. Yes, you Erlewine!
This is an original 1980s pressing and was still in the shrink wrap until this morning. A bit noisy, even after 30 minutes in the ultrasonic bath. I think I need to get some water of known quality, and use less rinse aid.
Just distilled water, 45 degrees temperature and a minimum of 45 minutes is what I have found works well for myself over the years I have been experimenting.
I then leave them in a stand to dry with a fan blowing on them and after about 30 minutes just give them a final wipe with a microfiber towel and all set.
Thanks. The water was from my window cleaner. They purify water using filtration, but I don’t know how often they replace the filters. I’ve been running at 40 °C for 30 minutes. Air dry and then microfibre.
Last batch, whilst no loud pops etc., is overall noisier in the gaps, so I think the water is ready for a change.
Perhaps I should clean my spark plugs separately?
Now playing …
40 is probably ok, I just went to 45 as that is what many on Audiogon were doing.
I use a lot of distilled water as I change it very frequently, its cheap, at least here it is.
Some people went to the trouble of filtering it and reusing the water but it’s just not worth the hassle imho, the plants get the leftovers…lol
UK prices are like upwards of £1.70 per litre. You’d think it was Evian. Deionized is marginally cheaper, and filtered from a machine around £0.25 per litre.
We’ve killed local independent retail in the UK, so it’s basically Amazon or B&Q at £6.99 per litre.
I tried that once, but then, I had no idea what album was what.
