Born and raised in Nottingham, England but currently living in Georgia, USA.
I have been a music nut since I was about 17 when I took mums record player and extended the cartridge wires to my first real stereo amplifier, a Tripletone tube amp with EL84 power stage, connected to a pair of Goodman’s Axiom 80 speakers (if I’d have only known). Served an apprenticeship in Electrical and Electronic Engineering which helped me understand the equipment from the inside out. Tinkered with playing bass guitar for a while and realized I loved live music and recording same. With a pal of mine we collected gear, mic’s, stands, mixers and of course tape decks and got deeper into making tapes for local bands. Then marriage came along, children and the rest most of you know about. In between these times the audio gear I owned went through many iterations. Emigrated to the USA in 1990 after transferring with the company and have been here since. Still have a bass guitar, one day I will play again, but my equipment has changed with the times.
Equipment currently comprises, Wolf Audio digital server front end (in my personal opinion the best) running Roon, T+A DAC 8 (still extremely tough to beat without paying insane prices), Circle Labs A200 hybrid integrated amplifier (great looks, fabulous detailed sound, to die for at that price point), Audiovector speakers, (magical and insanely good), Project TT and very soon a new Transcriptors Hydraulic Reference TT. I love vinyl and my digital source, yes there are differences but digital is rapidly reaching a point where the differences will only be measurable with our eyes. Music has been a mainstay in my life for 53 years and will continue to be.
