2M Tracks and need to a new NUC or something else to run Roon

Dear all expert,

I have almost 2M tracks in my library but my NUC10i7 with Roon Rock seens cannot handle as well. I have a QNAP TS-653D (14TB x 6, running RAID-5) and a NUC12 (64GB RAM) running windows 11 with 2 x QNAP TR-004 (14TB x 4 & 18TB x 4, those running RAID-5 in SW Mode). My Switch is QNAP QSW-2104-2T. Although the NUC10i7 having 64GB ram installed but selecting track is quite slow. Any suggestion to upgrade? Thank You!

You have a very large library, so you will need a suitably specified machine with lots of memory. Something like an i9-14900T with 64 GB or more memory is known to work well.

@Matz runs a very large library using this hardware in a fanless case with RoonOS. I believe all media is locally mounted.

Single thread performance is important, which often rules out Xeon processors. Linux will almost certainly outperform macOS and Windows in your scenario.

Likely, there are more relevant threads. You should also consider opening a technical support request.

A fully configured Mac Studio may work for you

But why spend four grand on that when a suitably specified headless and silent PC running RoonOS will cost far less?

Good question. All I know is that the Studio works for a user with a much larger library than mine and works for me too
