A dedicated line for album versions ("Remaster", "Deluxe", "Anniversary Edition") etc.)

As a Qobuz user, I’ve noticed that when I add an album to my library, the album title often includes a reference to its specific version. For example, the Jethro Tull album “The Broadsword and the Beast” might appear as “The Broadsword and the Beast (Steven Wilson Remix, 40th Anniversary Edition).” While it’s important to differentiate this version from the original or other editions, displaying this detailed information directly within the title makes the name unnecessarily long and visually unappealing.

A more elegant solution would be to separate the version details from the main album title. For instance:

The Broadsword and the Beast (displayed in a larger font)
Steven Wilson Remix, 40th Anniversary Edition (displayed in a smaller font beneath it)

Ideally, this adjustment could be automated in Roon, so that any album added to the library with bracketed information in its title is automatically formatted this way. Even a manual option to reformat titles in this way would greatly enhance the user experience by improving the visual presentation of albums in the library.

The place already exists. Go to Edit → Version and enter the version there. It will appear on the right below Format, Length etc.

You can also edit the title to remove the parentheses.

I agree that this should be automatic and for local files this also exists, see Settings > Library > Import settings. For some reason this doesn’t work for streaming albums and I don’t know if this is a bug or on purpose. I never managed to find out and I tried

Thanks a lot!! The version field is good, but very small, so I almost never use it. And yes, it really should be automatic, or at least, if I could enter the album title directly, rather than having to type the whole thing completely in a new field, that would make my life so much easier…

It is if you own the files locally and it not on a streaming service. You can set Roon to treat anything between () in a folder to auto populate the version field.

Yeah, but it should do the same with streaming albums in the library. If it can extract everything within parentheses in the file tag of the album title, there’s no real technical reason that it can’t do the same with the album title it gets from MusicBrainz or TiVo.

Sure. I wasn’t arguing against such.
