I have two homes and one roon lifetime license. It should be possible to easily use the same license in two locations not at the same time. The license should be portable and easy to point to the correct location I want to use the license in the software.
That is how it works already. You can use one license between two locations, just not at the same time.
And how does this work. Do you have to deactivate on location and how is that done?
Let’s say you were using the server at House 1. You travel to house 2. When you sign in to the server in House 2 you get a screen allowing you to deactivate the license in House 1 and activate House 2. When you are done with House 2 and go back to House 1, you just sign into the server at House 1 and will get a similar screen allowing you to deactivate the House 2 license and activate the license back in House 1.
I move my license back and forth from home to work every day.
Sounds straightforward. thanks.
Official info here:
So you have TWO servers, but this method only works with online, not locally stored music material obviously…
What do you mean by this? The topic is about transferring a license between multiple servers, not about keeping local content in sync across multiple servers…
Sorry, but that is not correct - a licence can be transferred between servers irrespective of whether the servers have local content or not…
As Geoff said, my servers both have local music, although different files.
If you want the two servers synced, then that is different and takes more steps. But servers don’t need to have identical libraries to move the license.
And, btw, I have more than two servers and they have vastly different local files each. I don’t care if any of them are synced.
