About Combo384 DSD256 Native support

Dear Roon

I have DIY DAC
It’s installed with Combo384 DDC(www.amanero.com)
Many DIY people use Conbo384 USB DDC.

The combo384 support DSD256 at Window10 OS
But Roon is not support at RoPieee Linux RoonBridge system.
And Window10 Roon Core also not support DSD256 Native.

I hope Roon will soon becames support DSD256
Bellow is my test picture at Combo384, 2 type XMOS DDC

You may want to contact @spockfish It requires a kernel patch when using RoPieee Linux or ROCK. As for Windows, it depends on the ASIO driver that comes from Amanero. Did you try on JRiver?

I’m not sure what I’m seeing here… 2 units run RoPieee, both do native DSD.

Can you clarify a bit @SeaChange?

Ow… and btw, can you run it with RoPieee (I think you’re now running DietPi on it) and send me feedback? This can be done from RoPieee’s webpage on the advanced tab.

Thanks,

I also run Amanero 384 and can only get DoP DSD128 on it with Ropieee. Happy to a feeedback  if you like…aw what the hey…here it is cb48fa8782277c3e

Combo384 support DSD256 at Windows10 with JRiver

But
Window10 and Roon Core also didn’t support DSD256

2 DAC with XMOS DDC(U208chip) can play DSD256 Native at RoPieee

But Combo384 DDC can’t play DSD256 at RoPieee. It’s down sampling
DSD128

Picture is XMOS DDC at RoPieee and
Combi384 at DietPi

When i was tested all case

XMOS U208 DDC

  1. DSD256 native can play at Ropieee
  2. DSD256 DoP can play at DietPi

Combo383

  1. DSD256 Converted to DSD128 can play at Ropieee
  2. DSD256 DoP Converted to DSD128 can play at DietPi

Can’t read it… :frowning:

Hi @SeaChange,

Can you send me feedback? Go to the ‘advanced’ tab of RoPieee’s web page and hit the ‘send feedback’ button.

Dear SpockFish

Sent my RoPieee feedback
Are you founder of RoPieee?

Thanks a lot

First of all, which Amanero firmware version are you running?

That’s what I expected, you need to contact @support , For Roon to take a look at it.

Dear SpockFish

Hi @SeaChange,

Thanks for the feedback. The DAC exposes native DSD support, and RoPieee’s kernel is already taking care of this.

So it should already work, so again I’m trying to figure out what the problem is.
Can it play DSD64? Do you have more than 1 DAC plugged in?

Yes Two DAC working with RoPieee
The one is XMOS DDC DAC
it’s working very well DSD256 native.

another is Combo384 DDC DAC

RoPieee can play DSD128(only DoP) with Combo384 DDC.

When play DSD256
It’s down sampling to DSD128 and DoP

And May I request RoPiee for ASUS Tinker board.

Thanks for your kindness reply

Yes Harry @spockfish is the founder (if you like) of RoPieee

Oh ~ It’s a great honor to meet him and get help.
RoPieee is a great linux program

Ok. But ideally I need feedback with only one DAC connected.
So please unplug the other one, leve the Combo in please and send me new feedback.

Ok, i think what’s going on.

Recently there has been a change that is able to detect native DSD capabilities on devices equipped with Amanero stuff in a more generic way. It makes a selection based on the USB firmware version.

And your version is not stated in the list, hence no no native DSD.

I’m gonna build a new kernel that tries to fix this, but no guarantees.

Give me a day or so, I’ll poke you over here when the kernel is available.
