Actions required before selling ROCK NUC

Hi,

I’m going to sell my NUC that is running ROCK and would just like clarification on what I need to do to prepare the NUC for the next owner so as when they receive it that it is ready for them to set up for their own use straight away. The NUC has a 500G Samsung NVMe SSD inside, but this is software only as all my music was on an external drive.

Thanks in advance!

If no music at all on its internal drive then you need to do absolutely nothing.

New owner will connect to their network and sign in with their Roon account and proceed with their setup.

I am curious if the database is tied to a Roon account?

Do I not need to perform any actions here?

Be sure to log out of your Roon account, since you will be liable for any ongoing subscription costs.

Thanks, I have a lifetime sub.

I would just wipe the SSD. And have them install ROCK themselves if they want to use it for Roon again.

Resetting the database would be a good thing to do…

Is wiping the SSD done by Resetting the database as mentioned by Geoff in his post?

No. And it’s not necessary to wipe the SSD (which would mean taking it out of the NUC and wiping it while attached to a PC or Mac) - @SandsOfArrakis spoke of “reinstalling ROCK” onto the blank SSD.

Nope deleting the partition on the NUC’s SSD and have the new owner install a fresh copy of ROCK.

You can’t “delete a partition” in RoonOS? It’s not a general purpose computer - it’s a music appliance… :slightly_smiling_face:

Installed ROCK once. And I seem to remember having the option to format the partition during setup. Otherwise you can also use a Linux live stick to format it from there.

My NUC came with Windows and ROCK totally removed that during setup and replaced it with its own system after formatting.

Really that’s not necessary - the new owner is going to run Roon (using his own account presumably) - so just resetting the database is sufficient… KISS

Right, if I follow all the previous posts from Geoff and SoA (thanks for input btw) all I need to do is reset the database?

Yes it is.
