Description of the issue

There are two James Taylors credited:

Only the one on the left should be.

The second mistake/issue is with “The Orchestra” . No other description on the cover is provided. Roon has a link to an entity called The Orchestra which hails “from Scandanavia” with this image:

I think that’s Charlie Watts on the back row, drummer for the Stones. I doubt this image is “the Orchestra” playing on this 2008 album. FYI

Metadata issues have been discussed extensively. Roon´s rich link structure and credit lists can only be as good as its sources of metadata and depending on the album and original source this can be pretty flawed.

Have a lot of such issues with classical recordings, particular from the analogue era, and have to remark that these are minor and solvable flaws. Just delete the 2 false artists manually from the album and you are done.

I thought Roon was on a mission to purge errors from the source, i.e., Qobuz. That’s why I send these in when I find them. If I’m just cluttering the website, the good folks at Roon should let me know. Thanks for the solution path.

It’s an image of the Charlie Watt’s Orchestra.

It’s perfectly fine and helpful to report them. There’s some good info in this recent thread:

Yes, suggestions to improve roon´s database are absolutely appreciated, sorry if a different impression has been created.

An artist of the same name being accidentally credited to an album of the other one is just a pretty common mistake. John Taylor is another classic who is a Jazz composer but credited with participating in some Duran Duran albums:

As mentioned, that is a common mistake, and the only negative impact is some wrong album appearing in John Taylor (composer)´s discography. You can remove that credit manually.

More general problems which roon should in my understanding always address is artists or composers existing manyfold or discographies of two artists being completely merged by accident.

I have the impression that local library maintenance is an extremely minority interest amongst the roon subscriber base. However these endemic meta-data issues have a deep effect on functionality such as discovery, search, recommendations, radio etc. that roon subscribers are interested in. There are very large numbers of complaints and lengthy threads on all these topics which depend on the quality of roon’s aggregate partner and usage meta-data. If you don’t use these features maybe you don’t notice that local edits and preference settings have very little effect.

Thank you for reporting these issues, which are all TiVo errors.

We’re trying to figure out the best way(s) of weeding these out without throwing out the baby with the bathwater, so to speak.

Please keep reporting anything you find like this and feel free to use this thread for now.
