You’ve specifically asked me for advice on this in another thread, but I’m no ROCK user myself, so can’t tell you where to locate the file…
I’m using Windows on my core, run Roon server and additionally full Roon if I want to take control from there - of course, I have to change display_ui in the //…/roonserver, not //…/roon directory for the changes to effect any web display.
Sorry to be of no real help, but maybe some ROCK users can chime in here!
Unfortunately the Roon Rock (Linux) Core has hidden (and encrypted) system files. Same with my Nucleus. No way to change the display_ui. And even if that was possible - every update would overwrite the individual changes made.
It works for the Roon Core running on Windows … but WIN is not, what Roon OS was developed for.
Have a look at my thread from last year, some visualisations (and Comments from Roon ) (User selectable) Alternative Designs for Web-Display
Where is the display_ui.html in linux? I can not find it. And do not know where to put it. Roon directory is /var/roon. There I can not find anything. In /opt/RoonServer I can not find the file either
The native display when casting is one of the ugliest things I’ve ever seen, which is so confusing considering how gorgeous the UI on the Roon app itself is.
I personally don’t love Spotify’s native display but I appreciate that it has dark mode to at least de-clutter and provide some minimalism. Why can’t we get just basic display customisation, at least the ability to remove artist photos?
I know the devs work hard and I’m sure there’s so many feature requests that take priority but it’s so disheartening to see that people wanted this feature in 2022 and it’s 2025 and still crickets.
Very true, I would love to see more display options, and also the possibility to use the HDMI on my nuc to display coverart on an external display or tv.
