Amazon Music Unlimited support needed

Users whose ISP provides a poor DNS (not uncommon) notoriously have problems with Qobuz and Roon (and probably Tidal, I suppose).

„Try switching to a known good DNS like Google DNS or Cloudflare“ is a common resolution steps in support threads with streaming problems.

Not sure if anyone noticed this… but Volumio has done a lot of work with Amazon to support Amazon Music.

Has Roon been quietly working at it , in the background ? 2025 could be interesting.

Reading the thread it looks far from being a done deal. I’ll be surprised if it happens tbh as it’s outside of their eco system, but we’ll see.

Actually if you look at the post I linked a lot of work has been done.
Never said it was a ‘done deal’.
As I said, I wonder if Roon has also done a lot of work behind the scenes.

Have you used a Wiim device? Has been supported a long time now. So Volumio wouldn’t be the first.
Bluesound supported for years (that UI is fugly)

Yes I read it.

Never said you did

Yes, but the integration is different apparently. If it were the same as WiiM or Bluesound or the Kef Connect app I use for my speakers, I suspect it would be in Roon already.
Danny confirms above, last August, that Roon has a relationship with Amazon, so work is being done, that’s been confirmed already.

Amazon has two api approaches been around for some time. The basic one like Blusound which sucks or the Alexa one like Wiim. This allows Alexacast to the device so you can use their own app and have a nicer menu system as well as add in Alexa to control it. As with all Roons services unless they are willing to give Roon copies of their database its a non starter. Volumio is just like any other 3rd party vendor it can opt to use one of the two APi’s if Amazon except them into their programme.

Also looks like Amazon has ditched the Device API in favour of WebAPI according to their developer site.

Hmm looking at there do’s and dont’s number 5 seems to be a sticking point that would affect Roon?
