Any improvement benefits switching to Intel Mac Mini 2012?

I’m currently running my core on my Synology DS1821+ (AMD Ryzen V1500B Quad-core 2.2 GHz, 32GB RAM), with my DB stored on an external SSD. I’m thinking of moving my core to an old Mac Mini (late 2012, i7-3720QM, Quad-core 2.6GHz, 16GB RAM), with an internal 2.5" SSD.

I don’t have any complaints from the Synology, (ok it’s not blazing fast but it does the job just fine); the only real reason behind this would be that I like the look of the mini and would like to have the mini in my living room.

Do you think that I’d see any speed improvements with the Mac Mini over the Synology or is it such an old computer that I should stick with the Synology? Buying a NUC or new Mac is out of the question; I’m only thinking about the 2012 Mini cause I already have it and it’s currently doing nothing!

If you already have the Mac Mini then why not give it a go? Not sure what you’re looking for in terms of speed improvements. Doesn’t seem likely that you’ll seed much improvement between the two. If all it’s doing is Roon or other music streaming that I can’t imagine that you’d have any problems.
