Are there any other Sonny Sharrock fans out there? I learned of Sonny from Carlos Santana who said he was studying him and he was the inspiration for his album “Africa Speaks.” That’s far from my favorite Santana album, but it opened up the world of Sonny to me. Lots of work with Herbie Mann and others and then some works as lead. He said he wanted to be a sax player but his asthma prevented it, so he initially felt he was playing sax solos through his guitar. If you’ve heard Sonny what do you think? If not check him out! Yes, Sir. Well maybe not a „fan“ insofar as I am not super familiar with most of what he has done, but I absolutely adore this one. Saw him play live on this tour as well.
Side note, the legendary German band, F.S.K. (Freiwillige Selbstkontrolle) wrote a fan song about falling in love at a Sonny Sharrock concert and the girl you adore scoring a Sonny Sharrock guitar pick for you: Jodler für Sonny Sharrock. Putting this here although you‘d probably have to understand German and be familiar with F.S.K. to get the brilliance
