Apple Music High Res

Good idea :+1:t2:

Downloaded it and plays fine. Now deleted the download, tried again and it plays fine  I only had an issue with Liberty and exactly at the 0:29 mark.

Not using any apple camera adapters. Only ever used a standard micro usb to lightning cable I bought off amazon. Never had any issues until this track. But then again, it had the same problem when I tried to airplay to my NAD M10.

Very strange and I appreciate you being curious to find out what was causing it

A glitch in the matrix

I would be angry at Apple  but hey, itā€™s a free upgrade for existing users. I canā€™t complain too much

Who knows what buggered my phone. Very curious indeed but glad itā€™s gone now.

I take it youā€™re enjoying AM so far?

Iā€™m glad that CD quality (or better) is now becoming mainstream.

I wrote a month or two ago in this thread, that the Apple Music app on macOS sucks and that hasnā€™t changed today of course.

It sucks as much as iTunes. Itā€™s basically iTunes with a bit of red lipstick lol.

But itā€™s been improving each macOS version so hopefully it gets an overhaul with the next macOS update end of the year.

Itā€™s so slow, even on my M1 Mac Mini.

iOS is a different story - very nice UI and very fast.

Hopefully by end of this year or maybe next year Iā€™ll also be able to convert my iCloud uploads from lossy to lossless - just the albums that are missing from Apple Music.

Interest comments by Eddy Cue at Apple:

Eddy Cue Says Spatial Audio on Apple Music is Equivalent to Watching HD Television for First Time - MacRumors

Iā€™ve been with AM for many many years but cancelled it when I started experimenting with Roon, Tidal and Qobuz.

Always liked AM iOS app but like you said, the macOS app is seriously behind. Especially now with it not being able to auto switch sample rates.

Watched the entire keynote yesterday and hoped they would mention apple music but that was not the case.

Fingers crossed new macOS will sort it out. Now with lossless and people wanting to connect DACs it will be needed.

Have you met Amazon Music HD ?

2 years now? And they still havenā€™t worked out this exact thing on their desktop app (auto sample rate switching). And even their iOS app !

Surely if Tidal and Qobuz can work this out, the big boys can !?

Sounds very good. Iā€™m using my iPhone 11 Pro Max, AudioQuest Dragonfly Cobalt connected with Apple camera adapter, Moon Silver Dragon headphone cable, and Sony WH-1000XM3 headphones.

Now the problem is too many choices and they all sound great including Roon, Audirvana Studio, and Audirvana 3.5, streaming Tidal and Qobuz. And now, Apple Music. On top of that, I have three pretty nice headphones with Moon Black Dragon and Silver Dragon headphones cables.

What the hell do I listen to now??

PS: I use TuneMyMusic to keep Apple Music in sync with Qobuz and Tidal. Last night I deleted all my Apple Music albums from my iPhone so it would always play the highest resolution available on AM.

Hilarious. I believe this is the epitome of #firstworldproblems

Iā€™m in the same boat - I subscribe to everything. Itā€™s not ideal

You and I spoke about this recently right? You pointed out that its implementation in bluOS was shabby?

I did use it for about 24 hours and gave up on it. App on iPhone with the Alexa button did my head in :)) If I remember correctly, it could not even do Airplay from the desktop app.

Ah yes I remember now.

Itā€™s no fault of Bluesound guys. Amazon provide a sh!t API. And thereā€™s been no improvement to that for 2 years either.

Amazon got caught snoozing by Apple. And Spotify came out with the expensive ad with Billie Eilish for Spotift HiFi but Apple came with the sneak attack

This track in Atmos, good lord.

I think Daniel Ek had an idea to charge more for the Spotify HiFi tier (that was the rumour anyway).

Then later he saw Apple would give it for free (and Amazon copied the pricing immediately).

I think Ekā€™s had a headache ever since that day and maybe moreso today

You snooze, you loose they say.

Curious what Spotify will do now and if they will offer this upgrade free of charge.

Not gonna subscribe as I have enough streaming services now and I should cut down

Their declining share price is probably morphing that headache into the mother of all migraines.

Absolutely have to now.

Whatever pricing plans they had when the Billie Eilish ad came out (only 3 months ago) were completely scrapped not long after.

Apple changed everyoneā€™s plans. Came out of nowhere.

The monkey see monkey do approach works in our favour :grinning:

Curious what Tidal will do about their pricing. Obviously no one will keep paying Ā£19.99 for their top tier here in sunny UK. You know, the one whose ā€œnameā€ we do not say out loud.

I have to assume that they have a completely different plan given their acquisition.

At the moment they make the least sense out of all the services.
