Apple Music High Res

He did that, extensively. He provided evidence that it worked.

You haven’t.

Fellas, anyone here a customer of Apple Music and actually enjoying using it?

Just yesterday found out that Apple Music released the Dolby Atmos mix of Rush’s Moving Pictures in full last Friday and found it to be an absolute blast. You’ll never hear YYZ the same way again!

I felt the same way about that album, absolutely loved it.

Had a similar experience with Blackstar (360 reality audio, Tidal).

Seems like spatial audio is coming along nicely. Big woman Miraa May also sounds awesome.

Thanks for the recommendations…appreciate it!

Read a bit further in his posts. Key Sentence from dabass: „ And I made no claims that anything has changed with Apple Music.“ ++ Like written before, yes AirPlay can do up to 120 Mbit. Nothing new about this. Topic closed. Waste of time.

You have indeed wasted everyone’s time, glad we agree on that at least.

I’m testing my 8th Gen iPad using adapter to send via HDMI to Bose. Sounds great. I think this iPad will do 24/96 in this mode but maybe that’s moot since it’s digital to the Bose. Anyway, I’m going to look at Home Share to see if my iPhone can see the iPad and maybe control it, IDK.

EDIT: I can’t get Home Sharing to work. I doubt it would do what I want anyway. Probably would just send music from iPhone to iPad via Airplay. If I really wanted to use Apple Music on my Bose, I guess I would just get a long HDMI cable.

Let’s try and keep on topic please and cool the action a little as we don’t need it spoiling what is a good thread for the most part.
Thank you guys!

Would be cool.

I am assuming Apple is working to make airplay more like Spotify connect. Seems to be the biggest obstacle for people coming from Spotify (judging by reddit).

Meanwhile I’m having lots of fun with my Frankenstein iPhone-Lightning-to-USB-to-ToppingD10s-to-optical-to-KEFLS50WII setup.

Remote controlling the iPhone from my Watch now – it actually as a pretty serviceable and full-featured Music app.

Living like a caveman – but it all sounds bloody glorious and plays highres like a champ, autoswitching and all.

I believe iTunes remote only works for local files.

I use Apple Music on the go. I’m basically maintaining two separate libraries, Qobuz and AM. I’m having a problem with the uploading to AM of stuff I have which they don’t, mostly live concert boots. Still waiting for the Roon on -the-go solution.

well, you can use it for your mediathek.posted a link to this. so, whatever is in your mediathek it can play incl. streaming. as workaround folks add via iOS app to mediathek and switch back to itunes remote. so, not ready again :frowning: will come back to apple music in a year or so, when they have improved a lot of things for sure.

Doing the same. I prefer not to intermingle local library and streaming, so, I keep Roon for local & AM for streaming.

Forgive me for feeling a bit foolish, but, until this moment, I didn’t even know that you could upload your own collection to AM! I thought the iTunes Match stuff went out the window when iTunes was de-prioritized, but, I guess not.

In any case, It’s good that you’re able to put your bootlegs up there. I don’t think I’d have the patience to do that, but, I’m glad one of us does!

And the main reason nobody is using it this way (as discussed back in Oct 21) is that despite being capable of 24/192k bit perfect transfer, it doesn’t support automatic sample rate switching.

So it was a nice experiment to show that Airplay (Apple calls this iOS to macOS playback Airplay) is capable of 24/192k in this specific use case - but it’s not really interesting for us to use without automatic sample rate switching.

For now anyway. Will test again next major macOS update

How does that work?

Does it update each library when something has changed ?

Yeah, it’s a case of putting the infrastructure/components in place for now. They’ll get there but I’m not sure they’re in any great hurry ATM. They also seem to be loosing the love for Bluetooth here as well. Get the impression they’re ready to go with something different in the headphones soon…
