Roon could play Apple Music on Apple devices, but (as detailed in the second link) Roon would have no control over the stream: „no DSP no hi-resolution audio no multi-zone no bit-perfect playback no using your devices’ clocks for networked audio no signal path no volume leveling no crossfade forced resampling“
Roon could not play Apple Music at all on non-Apple devices
Apple recently sent me a survey asking why I had cancelled their Music service, though I’d only subscribed for a few months several years ago. My sense is that Roon and other device users (BluOS etc) are a tiny fraction of the market for them and don’t make a dent in their bottom line.
In my honest opinion. Even if Roon can integrate Apple Music as-if without dsp, without audio-engine, I feel Apple Music still will be a big win for Roon.
Undoubtedly Apple Music has vast number of records.
Sound better now with CD Lossless quality.
Roon can forget about Spotify now because Spotify their Project Lossless will never be released.
I bet they have. Now Roon being the most expensive streaming app out there but also have lots of subscriber. If Roon is keen to enable this they should use our shares to negotiate things with Apple.
Instead they just use our fund to make Nucleus which benefit only minor population for Roon subscriber.
I think if Roon do not up their game by focusing on their core competencies which is better music service integration, other product like Audirvana will at some day take away Roon’s share in the market.
