ARC app for MacOS

Just wanted to give my feedback to say I’m very much enjoying version 1.999.90000 build 414. It’s great to have a little Roon ARC player in the corner of my Mac desktop. No problems encountered thus far.

Oooh ! I was not aware of this. It was on my wish list. Will make it much easier to have a Roon setup in a second location. Thanks for the tip.

great feature!

Was missing access to Roon via / when travelling and working with Macbook in different / changing locations. Using the iPhone alone was does not allow for the same convenience due to reasons of usage and limited battery power.

It’s not actually an official feature, it’s just that apparently it’s not explicitly prevented to install the TestFlight (beta = Roon Early Access) version of the iOS app on macOS.

Be aware that this is nevertheless the Early Access version and there can be problems if you use the Production version of Roon Server and the Early Access version of the apps together. (In general it’s always recommended to either use the Production versions or the Early Access versions for all parts of Roon, and not mix them)

yes, understood that it is beta and risk involved.

currently still running server on productive version.

Thank you for sharing this! I had just upvoted this capability before reading your post as I am traveling and it is exactly what I was looking for.

I opted in and downloaded Roon Arc on my MBP. Great to have it as an option!

While it works, my connected DAC/AMP (Quloos MUB5) seems to only be recognized as supporting PCM 44.1khz with no DSD support whereas the MUB5 supports up to 384khz and DSD256. Note that Roon Remote on my MBP correctly allows me to set the max supported bitrate but Roon Arc on macOS does not – even though it works correctly with iOS (Roon Arc and Roon Remote).

Have you experienced the same? Suggestions?

Edit: I also tried using it with the HiBy UC10 USB to Coax converter feeding into the MUB5 and only managed to get 48khz.

I will assume that this is because Roon Arc is running on an OS it was not designed for and nothing can be done until Roon specifically designs it for macOS as well.
