Since we released Roon ARC in September, we’ve been listening to your feedback and have heard the widespread demand for CarPlay. We know how important it is to natively support CarPlay for on-the-go listening and we’ve been hard at work on a CarPlay integration for Roon ARC. Now we are ready to share it with you in Early Access.

How can I test?
As long as you have an iPhone and access to a car which supports CarPlay, you can test directly in your car.
Notes for testing
For now, you can’t start Roon ARC from the car’s interface. 
Make sure Roon ARC is already running on your phone before you connect it. 
If you start it from the car Roon ARC will crash and get into a strange state. This is bug #1 for us and we’re all over it.
Also:

Don’t test and drive. Seriously. Documenting issues and generating feedback is best done from the safety of your driveway or the nearest parking lot.

Take videos. They help us visualize your feedback. Simply take a video from your phone or use Loom for easy sharing.
Known Issues
CarPlay is still in active development and there are a few known issues we’d like to share:
- Unable to start the Roon ARC app from car interface, it must be started from phone first.
- Unable to play downloaded content from CarPlay.
- Error feedback via the car’s screen is not yet implemented
Guidance for feedback
Stability
- Are you seeing crashes?
- If so, are they reproducible? What are the steps to reproduce them?
- What happens when you change connectivity states when connected? (WiFi/Data/Airplane mode/offline mode in Roon ARC)
- How does CarPlay feel on slower networks?
- What happens with interruptions from other apps? (Navigation apps, phone calls, alarms)
- Does everything play as expected?
- Do things load in a reasonable amount of time?
Product
- Is it missing anything?
- Is there anything extra you don’t need?
- Is the music or data you care about presented in a sensible way?
- Were you able to find what you were looking for?
- How did the layout/navigation feel to you? Did the menus do what you’d expect?
- How did offline mode feel?

Installation
This release is an update to the ARC app only. There is no associated Roon core update required.
Cores, remotes, and ARC installations already running earlyaccess should update automatically. If you need to reinstall, the latest earlyaccess builds can always be found at the following links.
