ARC connectivity issue - Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra

Here are the versions but I’ve just about given up… I would have given up if I didn’t have a lifetime subscription

I have uninstalled and re-installed everything and still getting the green light from Roon Arc settings but have now come to a complete standstill and nothing I can do will make it work…

You probably want to remove your email address from that screenshot

I guess so… Maybe someone might email me an answer…

Is there a proper support function at Roon somewhere? I need some technical help or my money back really…

Hey @Simon_Tippett,

Apologies for the delay in getting back to your thread. Following up on this issue, we’re seeing some interesting errors in relation to the playback engine on the mobile device. When using Arc, are you trying to stream to the local system output of the phone?

With that, have you tried downloading Arc from the manual .apk download, or only from the google play store? As a next step in testing, please remove Arc and re-download from the link below

https://download.roonlabs.net/builds/RoonARC.apk

I’ll be on standby for your reply. Thanks!

I can’t play anything, local or streamed from anywhere, I can play nothing at all, ever. I’ve downloaded from the Playstore. I’m getting fed up of downloading music to play offline when there’s issues because when there’s an issue I have to reinstall and I lose all my downloads. Downloading music is totally pointless.

Hi, I’ve installed from the link provided and no difference still getting poor connection, which should really say no connection. I’ve just rebooted Rock again and no change.

This is getting ridiculous… I’ve even turned the firewall off completely to test and that didn’t work so the issue isn’t the router.

Can someone from Roon please help

@benjamin I’ve just borrowed an iPhone running Arc 1.0.38 Build 182 and Arc works, so there isn’t a problem with my router set up the problem must be with the Android version 1.0. 38 build 100182

I’m am really disappointed at now being a full month with Arc and the total lack of support or help for a paid product

Does the iPhone use he same mobile provider or a different one? Asking because I had an issue that looked similar. The Roon ARC settings said “Ready” but it didn’t work for me. Turned out that I could successfully run ARC on friends’ phones who used other mobile providers, but not mine. Turned out that my mobile provider was blocking ports on their cell network.

I swapped my sim card over so it’s the same provider. Cheers

OK, even stranger then :frowning: Android build 182 didn’t work worse (or not at all) for me than other ones.

Did you uninstall/reinstall it? The “Poor connection” issue is most often fixed by resetting it, but I have seen cases where it wasn’t, and then an uninstall/reinstall cleared it after all.

Yeah it sucks with losing downloads.

I did, a few times

I hope Benjamin returns soon :frowning:

@Simon_Tippett - what is your device that is giving problems with ARC, and what version of Android is it running? Further, have you recently updated/installed any other app on the device that uses the Android playback engine?

I have a Samsung Galaxy s23 ultra phone that Arc won’t work on. Occasionally it will play one song and then show poor connection. It works perfectly well on an iPhone 12 Pro Plus. I’m not aware that I’ve downloaded or changed anything on the phone. I assume my router is set up correctly as it works on the iPhone and when on data the Samsung isn’t connected to the router anyway. Thanks

It’s running Android 13

It’s not your router, this is an issue with ARC and certain Android devices. Likely some differences in network stack that some oems do that causes it. I have an iPhone and it works without issues in this regard but my Android devices have suffered from this. A reinstall or reset usually fixes it but it’s not in your case so likely some other underlying issue.
