It’s the 2nd time I have this problem. The 1st time everything worked fine again when I was home again. The server worked normally. It proves to be very stable.
So no reason to believe that Roon is down now.
Data Roaming is the name for using cell phone data while abroad, in a different cell provider network than the one where the contract lives.
I was asking if that’s working while abroad for all other apps, and just not working for ARC.
Phones have a setting for enabling or disabling roaming, so I thought maybe that’s turned off. There are also types of mobile contracts that don’t offer roaming at all for data.
(The reason for the existence of the setting is that roaming can incur huge data charges. Within the EU, there are, however, EU regulations that stipulate reasonable conditions).
Can you reach your home network in some way. For example a VPN connection on your router or an other service that you run. Or a trace route to your internet router. (So the WAN Address of your router). Looks like some internet problem to me. Haven’t been to Italy but from Proximus Belgium al went well recently.
Live in Amsterdam, was om holiday in Tuscany/Italy. ARC worked for me on iPad/WiFi in the holiday house but failed on iPhone XS / WiFi combination… never figured out why. (Remove and restore the app did not help, while the iPad continued to play)
Have you tried another phone. Is it only working as soon as you enter the Netherlands.
My quess it never works. Also not in the netherlands. Is there a possibility to use another phone for testing. To rule out it’s your phone that is the isue. (Curious what phone you’re using…) I’ve used 2 different phones so far. Sony Xperia 5 MKII, Oneplus 9 Pro 256GB/12GB version. Both working flawlessly remotely and lossless remotely over WiFi.
ARC works fine in the Netherlands. And I often use it there as well.
This is my 2nd trip abroad with ARC. Both times it does not find Roon core.
On the first trip I used ARC during the trip to Italy. It worked fine on the first day. From the second day it did not work anymore
On the current trip (again Italy) I did not use it during the trip. But I can’t get it to work here.
There is no reason to believe that the ROCK server has stopped working. I won’t be able to check that until next week.
My mobile device: ASUS Zenfone 8 on Android 13. I don’t believe that’s where the problem is. I have normal access from Italy with home automation and NAS apps, for example. Both via powerful WiFi at my vacation address and on the road via 4G, on both SIM cards (from different providers).
With At home you mean remotely somewhere in The Netherlands. So not strictly at home. Am I right? Have A almost broken XS lying around somewhere but no plans for trips accross the borders so far. Again no problems with the two adroid phones mentioned. The only thing is, They downsample.
This is perhaps a quite silly question but you’ll come home in the end. At least we hope. Is it possible to test Roon ARC in other countries you come accross. Germany, Austria. or Belgium (I only know that my setup did work at our southly neighbours.) (But this was unfortunately not the latest version of Roon ARC en Core.) Nice to know we’re both talking about the same situation Roon ARC on Android

Coincidentally, I will be in Switzerland for several days the following week. Testing opportunities then too.
And I do indeed use ARC in the Netherlands when I am not at home
