ARC stopped some days ago suddenly. I installed and configures it and all was well. Now it is over. I just see in the setings window that it will not work.
Did you previously use autoconfiguration by UPnP/NAT-PMP or did you create manual port forwarding rules?
If the former, it has stopped finding the UPnP/NAT-PMP service on the router. Try rebooting everything including the router. If this doesn’t help, turn off UPnP on the router and turn it back on.
If the latter, check if your router forgot them. Maybe a reboot helps with that, too, or recreate them.
When I configured ARC for the first time, it worked all by itself, i.e. with auto-configuration. I enabled UPNP and that was all I had to do. Now it doesn’t work anymore, (again, without changing anything in the configuration) so I used the manual configuration, but that didn’t help. When I saw that it wasn’t working, I turned off the manual configuration again and restarted everything. That didn’t change the situation, I think I’ve tried all the options. The result is: ARC worked for a few days and now it no longer works.
Vodafone.eg
But I don’t think it has anything to do with that. When I tried it out for the first time, it worked straight away without any problems. And everything was fine for a few days. And now suddenly it just stops.
It may be that the special configuration is the problem: I have a Vodafone modem with a SIM card in it. This modem is connected via Ethernet cable to the Deco X50, which provides the network for the house and connects to the other two stations.
But if that’s the problem, it remains strange why it worked at first and now suddenly doesn’t anymore.
There is no 5G here. But either way, it worked. I don’t think it’s possible that anything has changed in the provider’s network. For one thing, things don’t move that quickly here, and for another, you’d have to notice changes in other places as well.
But it’s not that important, at the moment I’m working here with a test installation on my MacBook. The NUC will arrive next week, then things will get serious. Then we’ll see what happens. Maybe then it will work again by itself
Thanks for writing in! And I’m sorry to hear Arc is giving you issues as of late.
Two simple troubleshooting steps we’ve found that have helped others in similar situations (Arc worked find, but then suddenly fails with timeout errors involved):
Test out changing the port number from Roon Settings>Roon Arc. Even just a few numbers, like from 55002 to 55010
Give your local network a hard reboot, and leave the router unplugged for a few minutes before rebooting each device.
Many thanks for the tip. I’ve done this more than once and it doesn’t help. It’s just strange that it worked without any problems at first, and now suddenly it doesn’t without me having changed anything in the configuration. But I can live with the fact that it doesn’t work. It’s annoying, but again, not that important.
What happens if you temporarily disable the additional stations, and attempt to connect strictly to the primary router within your setup?
How is your Roon Server connected to your router? Can you setup a temporary direct connection to the primary device and let me know if anything changes?
Many thanks for the suggestions. At the moment I don’t have time to look into it any further. I won’t get round to it again for a few weeks. But I’ll make a note of it and give it a try then. Many thanks again!
