I’ve never had much success with ARC Downloads - but after a new install of my ROCK-based RoonCore (and consequent need to re-download everything) I’m trying to understand the downloading process.
For reference, I’m downloading about 600 albums to a Pixel 7 Pro (512GB storage) running Android 15. I’m downloading ‘Balanced’ quality.
Like the first time I downloaded content when ARC was newer, the process is clunky and repeatedly says ‘Downloading paused’ for no apparent reason. I’ll probably raise a support ticket for that.
I’m really keen to understand what ARC is telling me when it says (say) ‘167 of 334 items’ (see screenshot).
The smaller number seems slowly to be going up and the larger one is coming down. (At the time I took the screen shot, 475 items had downloaded.) The numbers don’t increase and decrease at the same rate (that is, they don’t add together to the same total as the decrease and increase.)
I’d really just like to know what xxx and yyy are telling me!
I am only downloading playlists on my roon arc, I guess that"s why numbers are smaller. On mine I get “Downloading … 2 of 5 items”.
the good point is that I first asked to download 5 playlist so I guessed that the second number is the number of files/playlists you asked to download.
the less good points are that :
-1- it never ends ! and I don’t know why [still downloading 3 of 5 items…]
-2- one of the 5 is not listed in the Downloads item from My library [now 6]
-3- after adding a new playlist to my arc downloads, I see that the 5 is not becoming 6 despite the playlist appearing in the downloads section
I tried to check and understand. If I select “your downloads”, 4 of my playlists are visible in downloads, two of them are not with a tick but with a full circle. If I select “queued downloads”, I see the other two with a red circular arrow. I guessed it was necessary to relaunch but nothing happens. I then tried to review my playlists (via improve) and corrected a few things : mainly replaced mp3 files by flac).
but I still got the two playlists blocked in “queued downloads” type despite those modifications. Anyone knows what could go wrong ?
roon arc 1.68.362 built 100362 under android et roon, roon server 2.53 nuilt 1544 under ubuntu server OS.
the two which are still queueing are 7Gb (888tracks) and 3Gb (353 tracks). It may sound heavy but the biggest 22Gb (2545 tracks) is in downloaded state.
I fear to discover when disconnected and away that a lot of the tracks are not downloaded or that ARC is bugging. On of the playlist is in the downloaded section BUT it has a full circle instead of a tick.
