Arc not working with Zyxel and linksys router

Networking Gear & Setup Details

Zyxel vmg3625-t50b → Linksys wrt3200acm → power line tp link spa 8630 → Roon rock nuc core

Description of Issue

I get the below error when attempting to test Roon arc via the Roon remote app. I attempted to set up port forwarding on both the zyxel and linksys routers. I also attempted to set up zyxel in bridge mode following instructions from the manufacturer but that led to the internet being cut completely. Any guidance on additional steps to try would be much appreciated.

Hi @Aps241,

Please accept my apologies for the long delay in responding. Recent diagnostics from your account suggest there’s a local network timeout attempting to connect to ARC outside your network, and that UPnP is disabled on the Linksys router upstream from your Core.

I recommend trying the following steps:

  • First, try to enable UPnP/NATPMP in the web administration interface for the router directly upstream from your Core. Restart your modem and router afterward.
  • Try to again manually open the port in both your modem and your router’s port forwarding configuration, but restart your Core and routers afterward.
  • Make sure the IP/Port matches the Port listed in Roon → Settings → ARC
  • Check for any VPNs or Firewalls that might be interfering
  • If Bridge mode on the Zyxel router is cutting out your access to the internet, then it’s likely that you’re using that device as a router for your local network. If possible with your configuration try connecting your Core directly to the Zyxel via ethernet and attempting automatic configuration again.

Hi @Aps241,

I wanted to check in with regard to your issue, as it’s been several weeks. Have you had any success configuring port forwarding?

We’ll keep this thread open just in case.
