I do most of my Arc listening on the go either through CarPlay or AirPods on iOS. The issue is that Arc only offers two output options: CD Quality and Original Format. When using Original Format, the phone handles all the resampling, typically upsampling or downsampling to 24/48. Choosing CD Quality means the server downsamples to 16/44.1, but the phone still has to upsample to 24/48.
If there were an option to set a max output of 24/48, the server could handle all resampling, allowing the phone to simply play the file as-is. Even if there’s no clear improvement in sound quality, this would help reduce battery drain and avoid unnecessary processing.
Are there any plans on implementing something like this or is there a workaround?
