Description of Issue

Can’t get Roon ARC to work. I installed it a while back and it worked but when I got a new iPhone it doesn’t connect. I’ve tried turning off UnPNP and then putting it back on. Router and Core have been rebooted several times. Error codes are below from 3 different tries.

Thanks for any help

@mark_richter, t he diagnostics you’ve provided suggest that UPnP is not properly configured on your router.

Please first try the following steps:

  • Try to enable UPnP/NATPMP in the web administration interface for the router directly upstream from your Core
  • Try to manually open the port in your router’s port forwarding configuration
  • Make sure the IP/Port matches the Port listed in Roon → Settings → ARC
  • Check for any VPNs or Firewalls that might be interfering
  • Check if your modem is in Bridge mode

If you continue to experience difficulties, please tag the support team and include the following information:

  1. What is the make and model of your modem and router?
  2. Do you have any additional network hardware, like additional routers or managed switches?
  3. Who is your internet service provider and what is your geographic region?
  4. Is your Modem configured in Bridge Mode so that it operates only as a modem or do you have the ports forwarded on both?

The Roon NUC is direct wire connected to Orbi Router, not satellite.
Current error message:
{
“connectivity”: {“status”:“NetworkError”,“status_code”:504,“error”:“error: Error: ETIMEDOUT, response code: undefined, body: undefined connected? undefined”},
“external_ip”: {“actual_external_ip”:“47.aaa.bbb.ccc”,“actual_external_ipv6”:“null”,“router_external_ip”:“null”},

sorry for the multiple posts, ISP is Optimum in NY/NJ area

Does Altice provide a modem that also is a router? The error message you are receiving implies a second router is in your network. Can you please provide answers to the following questions:

  1. What is the make and model of your modem and router?
  2. Do you have any additional network hardware, like additional routers or managed switches?
  3. Is your Modem configured in Bridge Mode so that it operates only as a modem or do you have the ports forwarded on both?

Router - Orbi RBR850
Modem - UBEE Ubc1322

Additional Hardware - 2 Orbi Satellites

Modem looks have it’s own wifi available, working with Optimum to be able to turn that off. For some reason it’s not allowing me to do that on my own.

Thanks!!

Your modem is also a gateway (with routing capabilities). Is it possible to set the UBEE to bridge mode? I’m not sure as it is also a voice gateway and if you are using VoIP it may interfere with that.

Can you set UPnP to “On” on both the UBEE and Orbi routers? If not, you will need to create a set of TCP port forwarding rules using the 55002 port number such that 1) the UBEE forwards to the LAN IP address of the Orbi router, and 2) the Orbi router forwards to the LAN IP address of the computer you are using as your Roon Core.

OK, so I finally got the wireless turned off on my modem. The Altice wifi address is not visible anymore when searching for available wifi.
Getting this error:
{
“connectivity”: {“status”:“NetworkError”,“status_code”:504,“error”:“error: Error: ETIMEDOUT, response code: undefined, body: undefined connected? undefined”},
“external_ip”: {“actual_external_ip”:“47.aaa.bbb.ccc”,“actual_external_ipv6”:“null”,“router_external_ip”:“null”},
“natpmp_autoconfig”: {“status”:“NotFound”},
“upnp_autoconfig”: {“server_ip”:“10.0.0.1”,“found_upnp”:true,“error”:“<s:Envelope xmlns:s="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/\” s:encodingStyle="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/\“><s:Body><s:Fault>s:ClientUPnPError<UPnPError xmlns="urn:schemas-upnp-org:control-1-0">501ActionFailed</s:Fault></s:Body></s:Envelope>”}
}

Any thoughts?

OK, this has been resolved. Apparently there is a specific need top have the router cable in port 1 and once I moved it there everything resolved.
Thanks for taking the time to answer the above!!

Glad to hear it’s up and running @mark_richter, and thanks for your help @Robert_F. Sometimes ethernet ports are sensitive in that way. Please reach out if anything else comes up and we’ll support.
