I am using a fiio ka1 dac, which supports native DSD and DoP, on Roon on my laptop both options play fine, but on my phone there is a hissing noise. I dont have any modifications(EQ, Volume Leveling) so it is just a straight signal. No DSD file I have works with it. I believe this is an iOS issue but wanted to know if anyone also has issues.
my iphone is running 18.2.1 and says it’s up to date
18.3 is a beta (or release candidate by now) and expected to be released next week
drops next week apparently; may hold off updating since no dsd problem with current version
I also would like to add that I have always had this issue even with iOS 17
I listen to DSD albums on iPhone with AK HC4 and they work fine
Just to note, I updated to iOS 18.3( it just came out today) and I am still having the same issue.
Thanks all!
Just updated iPhone 15 Pro to iOS 18.3 and DSD albums are playing perfectly with Astell & Kern HC4
weird, im on a 15 pro max and it is giving me a hissing noise still. I think it is a iOS issue as I tried other music players with DSD files and I still get the hissing issue
have you tried to turn down the volume on the phone?
yes, phone is on silent mode.
Hi all, I had this exact issue and just stumbled across this article.
iOS 18 and USB Dac : r/iphone
This particular comment was the fix with my setup - FiiO BTR7 connected to iPhone 16 running iOS 18.3.1 connected via USB-C
Update: solved my issue by navigating Settings, Sounds and Haptics, Headphone Safety, USB Audio Accessories, and selecting Forget All. At next connect made sure to choose the NOT headphone option. Volume level is fixed for me, hope it’s helpful.
Hope this can assist others!
