From the album notes by Paul Affelder to “Billy the Kid” composed and conducted by Aaron Copland with the London Symphony Orchestra, Everest 3015/6015, (1959):
"'‘Billy the Kid’ contains literal or disguised references to such cowboy tunes as ‘Great Granddad, Git Along Little Doggies, The Old Chisholm Trail, Goodbye Old Paint,’ and ‘The Dying Cowboy.’
Conspicuously absent, however, is ‘Home on the Range.’
‘I had to draw the line somewhere,’ remarked the composer."

I have bought the Larson books and calendars for many years, always funny but sometimes you have to think about the cartoon before it “hits home.”

Yup, our (much missed) Lexie figured out the trick with horizontal handles as well. Fortunately, she never managed to teach Watson the trick…
