Bob Marley Uprising AP 45RPM. DR 11
Are you using R128 [or] Crest Factor?
T
ROON uses EBR 128
Yes, I know. I wanted to know what you were using.
Yep all my “measurements” are from Roon
Your comparison is wonky because the track listing/order is scrambled between LP and CD. A bit of judicious editing and level normalization would go a long way toward a real apples to apples comparison.
AJ
They arent, the DRs Listed are fir the whole LP or CD (thats how Roon determines it) not by track.
The thing is there are 2 versions of “Percussion enssemble” one CD, the other vinyl.
Im not using any software. The determination is Roons from the digital 24/96 transfers from the vinyl.
My vinyl transfers are using an Ortofon Verismo on an SL1000R using an Ortofone ST 70 SUT. The ADC is a Focusrite 4i4 using 192 khz sampling. The files are then encoded in Audacity as 24/96 FLAC.
Therefore the vinyl and any digital versions are 100% comparable in the eyes of Roon. Thats why using Roons DR is accurate since it determines the dynamic range from the recordings RMS instead of simply comparing from the noise floor.
No.
Did you do the simple math?
You are comparing an LP recording that is 39:20 total length to a CD rip that is 42:18 total length. That three minute difference completely invalidates any apples to apples comparison — regardless of EBU R 128 or DR method.
AJ
Roon determines DR for track and album. Use the track browser to see this (you may need to add the column.)
