This is a new behavior, over recent weeks. I didn’t record what update triggered the problem, but it’s been fairly recent. Current Roon 2.0 Build 1237. Core and storage on Apple M1 Macbook Pro, 16 GB, Ventura 13.0. Most of the music I listen to on Roon is streamed from Qobuz. If the queued music ends, and I then go do something else on the computer (e.g., read/write email), without actually shutting down Roon, when I come back to Roon I find it’s hung. Moving the pointer around turns into a rotating multicolor wheel. No response at all. I have to do a Force Quit and start Roon over again. Any idea about this?
Hi, @Joanne_Mason ! Thanks for reporting. I would ask you to share some details to help us figure out the issue: was it a single-time hang, or is it consistently reproducible on your end? Was Roon Radio enabled when this happened? Was Roon window minimized when you switched to other applications?
Thanks.
Hi! Thanks for picking this up. The behavior is not consistently reproducible. I can’t reproduce it. There’s no apparent pattern to when it does this, but it hangs every now and then - It’s not even every day. In answer to your questions, Roon Radio was not enabled. The Roon window was not minimized.
Hi! So we can provide the team a better idea of what exactly is occurring during the crash, we are hoping you can provide the logs directly from the Mac. Please see the following steps:
Open Console.app (this is part of mac os x. You can command-spacebar and then type “console” to find it).
Then go into the “User Reports” section, and see if you can find any Roon crashes in there.
For any crashes, paste the contents into a text doc and then send that file over to use so we can take a look.

Thanks
There are no Roon crashes in the log. I wonder if that means the problem is with my system and not Roon.
Hey @oleh. Are you using a previous version of MacOS? I’m using OS 13.3, and Console does not display the same categories in the left-hand pane as you’ve shown. However, there’s now a separate heading for “Crash Reports.”
In any case, my Mac (Mini M2, 32G RAM, OS 13.3) is showing the same behavior as @Joanne_Mason’s. (I had an iMac 18,3 until a couple week sago, and it was exactly the same.) It’s not strictly replicable, but it seems that the longer I am away from Roon, the more likely it will hang when I return, requiring a force-quit to get back up. And, as you can see, I don’t have any crash reports that name Roon either. Sorry!
Thank you for reporting. I would kindly ask you to do the following when this hang happens again:
- please note the exact local time + date when this issue next occurs and upload your Roon Logs by using these instructions. The best way to get them over to me would be via Dropbox / Google Drive, but if you don’t have either service please let me know and I can provide alternate upload instructions.
Thanks!
