EDIT: I remembered I moved a couple of Bernstein box sets either before or after the update so it may have been the move & not the update that did this. I’d like to leave the post here for info purposes, because it shouldn’t be happening in any case…
At least I assume it was yesterday’s update, but I can’t be 100% sure, as I hadn’t looked at this box set, prior to adding more Bernstein yesterday.
The problem is that cover images from unrelated box sets are appearing where they shouldn’t.
Here, one of the covers from one of my complete J.S. Bach sets is being used in a Bernstein symphonies set:
And again here:
I can confirm the following…
When I click on the cover image in Roon, the correct cover image for the album is there next to it:
When I look on my hard drive, each of the respective CDs has just the one cover image, named specifically for that set:
Before I start doing all that “remove the albums, clear the caches, restart Roon, re-add the albums” nonsense, is anyone else experiencing this or is this a known bug that’s due to be fixed?
Thanks.
Just to clarify, you have not let Roon treat your boxsets as complete boxsets, but you have tweaked the metadata to split up each boxset into individual albums?
Yes, that’s exactly right.
When I removed the Bernstein, some fragments of the Bach set remained, marked as Bernstein, so I’ve removed the Bach too. Some wires have got crossed. Will restart & add them back in.
I’m not sure about this, but I thought that:
- Roon prioritises the track metadata for cover art over jpgs in the album folder
- Roon expects cover art files in the album folder to be named
album.jpg or folder.jpg. Image files named otherwise will be added as images available for the album, but not treated as cover art.
Edit: Ah, just saw your last reply. You can probably ignore my message…

Ah, okay. Good info, though. I specifically name the image that sits with the tracks as ending with Cover.jpg & Roon usually picks them up straight away, even before I’ve added them in Yate. I was given to understand that Roon looks for words like Cover or Front or Folder & Cover just seemed the preferred term to me.
Will report back about the current process.
