So, according to your text, there is a way to set it to 1BIT? And this is different than the NOS setting?
Has anyone done measurement sweeps on the r11 or r13 fiio DACs to see what the graphs look when fed PCM vs DSD?
If you have full control over how the data is passed to the shift registers (serial/parallel convert), you can also turn it into native DSD converter by providing the data in a different kind of way. Since the front-end is FPGA, you naturally have this control.
So it has some potential for such operation. Would be interesting to try it out.
Yes. I am currenty using this dac in 1 bit native dsd mode with roon+hqlayer and I am impressed.
But I donât know any better than this so canât really compare it to other native 1 bit dacs.
Price certainly doesnât seem to be too bad, so I could consider including it on my shopping list.

Heres to hoping the manual is correct. I know the Topping D90 III Discrete made same claims and turned out it didnt work but they did implement it with the new Topping D900 correctly.

iFi Zen DAC 3 is cheap and verified to be true DSD Direct
Gustard G30 or AUDALYTIC DR70. Both claim 1 bit playback and both have NAA built in. Anyone test either of these?
Is the DR70 the same as the AH90 without the headphone amplifier

What I find interesting with both of those is that not only are they Roon Ready, but, they also have the HQPlayer NAA endpoint software. ! .
I donât think so. One is reporting AK4499 as chip (AH90), the DR70 should be R2R (but it is also reporting DSD native, that sounds quite odd to me)
A while back in this same thread a few of us updated to latest NAA version thanks to people sharing the instructions
This does have measurable noise floor modulation though. So just being DSD Direct does not guarantee it wonât have that.
If you believe Rob Watts of Chord noise floor modulation is audible 
Fortunately you donât have to spend much more for even better measurements and no noise floor modulation and even good DSD512 performance, with SMSL D200 - roughly the price of a HQPlayer license in my country which is a bargain

With DSD input can you adjust volume using the Fiio? Or it disables volume control?

So I took a small risk and ordered an Audalytic DR70 from Amazon, but it is not likely to arrive until early Jan. Hopefully I can use the instructions provided here or in another thread to update the built-in software and get it all up to date.
It ticked a few boxes for me, as I was looking at the AH90 but really didnât want the headphone output. I can always return it if I donât like it, but it feels that it would be a nice improvement to the Pi and iFi Zen Dac Signature V2
With the DR70, the streaming software is completely different. You can turn on/off services via web browser by connecting to its IP address. Thatâs much progress over the AH90 which requires hacking it to update it. I feel Gustard has no interest in updating the AH90. Theyâve seemingly moved on.
Luckily I have the AH90 under my control and have updated it to the latest NAA and the OS to Debian Trixie. All other services turned off. Works just fine.
