Best Setup on Mac; Driver question

Merry Christmas, all!

I’ll start by admitting that I’m not as tech-savvy as I’m trying to be, so I could use some edumacation on this.

I’ve heard about ASIO drivers, but know nothing about them. I think I’ve also read that perhaps CoreAudio isn’t the best thing to have in the signal chain. So, I’m wondering if there’s something I should be doing in my software setup in order to gain the best performance, or if I’m already there.

The setup is a headless Mac Mini running Roon Core, feeding HQPlayer 3.12b. In the Mac Mini’s Sound panel, I’ve chosen output as “PS Audio USB 2.0 Output” which appears when the Directstream DAC is available. Before I installed HQPlayer, the signal chain mentioned “CoreAudio”. Now, the signal chain shows as seen below when upsampling to DSD128.

Is this the best way to have things set? Are there options to consider, or is this setup appropriate for the Mac platform?
