This is a small release: I’ve spend last month mainly on debugging RoPieee on the Usbridge. Users reported ‘cracks and pops’ and I wanted to figure out what was going on, because at some point it worked and it degraded over time.
For quite some time I was under the impression that I myself could not reproduce the issue, but in the end I could.
But the investigation itself was interesting (and sometimes highly annoying ), as I played around with all kinds of kernel settings - even up to playing around with a realtime version.
Anyways, I expect the final release of 2025.05 to be as small as well: the only thing that I want to look into is the zone list on the display when facing a lot of zones.
Here’s the changelog (for now):
IMPROVEMENT: update Plexamp component
IMPROVEMENT: speed up configure step
IMPROVEMENT: update Linux kernel
FIX: cracks and pops on the Usbridge
FIX: LEDs behave different
Let me know how your units are doing. The changes for the Usbridge also affect regular Pi’s, so would be great to hear that everything is fine

Hi Harry,
Thank you for this new Beta.
I upgraded my 6 RPIs. The upgrade went fine.
On 5 of the RPIs, the red LED is again shut off when the settings for “Green LED” is set to “off”.
But on one, it is still illuminated. This is the only RPI5 I have. So I presume that the red LED is fixed on RPI3 and RPI4, but that there is still an issue on the RPI5.
Feedback of the RPI5: bbbd58a66296ec28
For me, the zone list is OK, but I only have 6 zones, so they all fit on the screen.
Three units updated two Rpi4s with no screen one RPi3b with Display 1.
The Two RPi4s are working fine.
The RPi3b is not working correctly (unit 3 below).
The screen shows a “zone not found” with “we’re still waiting…” message and a box to troubleshoot select a different zone.
Have rebooted device and server with no change.
Can access the webUI all looks like it should be there. Edit:
No entry in Roon Settings/audio.
There is an entry for Roon bridge for this device under settings/about in Roon.
Watching the boot it says “RoPieee is running”, then the welcome screen comes up, then goes to “zone not found” as noted above. Feedback sent: 9e252b98cacac74a

given that I’m using a HAT as well and thus Roon can’t see my RoPieee anymore, I tried to change to the stable channel but this doesn’t seem to work either (though I sure I’ve successfully used this to switch between stable and beta in the past).
After I confirm the config change and reboot I’m still on the same broken Beta release…
Is it still set to “stable” in the webUi or did that change back to “beta”.
If it is still set to stable, my understanding is that it could take while (few minutes to few hours?) for the change to take affect. It’s not instant after reboot.
If you want immediate change you could reflash your SD card.
it’s still showing stable. So does this mean I have to wait for it to load the last stable image? I thought to remember that it switches immediately (but I might remember this incorrectly).
I read in other posts that it would take a few minutes at least to show up. Caveat being that the posts were a few years old (thing have been known to change )… I would give it an hour or so and check the webUi to see if it says there is an update.
If you REALLY need it then I would just reflash. Then come back to beta once its fixed, if you still want to that is…
Personally I am using alternate means and other non-hat RoPieees for listening till it get sorted. Part and Parcel of participating in beta testing.
I know Harry mentioned that he is glad he has holiday, so I assume he is working on a fix.
This fixes the “HAT problem” that unfortunately popped up.
Furthermore I’ve made the zone selection dialog (display) a little bit more adaptive: it can now handle up to 10 zones. Scrolling is not possible (I’ll spare you the technical details), so hopefully this fixes the issue.
@spockfish
My RPI5 has updated to the last build (2440).
The red Power-LED is still constantly on, but I assume you haven’t invested on that one.
What is very strange, I hadn’t any issue with the HAT on that one in the previous build (2432). It kept on recognising the HAT “HiFiBerry Digi+ Pro”. I just remember now that the RPI5 uses a HAT. I totally forgot it.
To be clear, the HAT is still working in build 2440.
Thank you again for working on RoPieee during a holiday. Respect.
Kind regards, Frank.
